But it took a lot of hard work for the company to reach that status, and a lot of that work was done by Henning himself. Not one to shy away from a hard day's work, Henning is known to work in several department of DatingGold on a variety of projects.
Tell us a little about your background. Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school? What are your hobbies?
I grew up in Stockton, Calif. I graduated high school and dropped out of college to work instead. I'm really into business-minded things like the stock market and real estate. I spend alot of free time doing that. But I do have real hobbies that I spend a few hours a week doing, such as cars, cooking and movies. I love pets of all kinds and strongly support the ASPCA. (Not to be confused with ASACP, which we also support!) I really enjoy traveling; it's the one thing I could never do enough of.
How did you get into the adult online industry?
I started consulting for an adult company in 1997, then I started mainstream dating sites and then created an adult dating site, bringing me back to adult. Prior to adult, I worked in the newspaper industry as a media manager.
How did DatingGold come to be? Gives us a little history on the company.
Our company first started in the United Kingdom, operating mainstream dating websites. In 2001, we started an adult dating site. As the site continued to grow we wanted to start an affiliate program for our dating sites, especially since affiliate marketing was very good in adult. So DatingGold.com was launched in late 2002. Basically, the need to work with affiliates in the adult space was the reason for starting DatingGold. DatingGold is custom programmed in-house.
What sets DatingGold apart from other dating programs?
DatingGold.com has a three-tier referral program and competitive industry payouts, and offers co-branding and white labeling solutions for both cams and dating. DatingGold.com has always taken great pride in providing our affiliates the most professional and superior support that we can. We always strive to have the latest and most innovative marketing tools.
What do you see in the future for DatingGold? For online dating companies in general?
We see DatingGold.com continuing to grow its dating and cams products and offering more sites to promote in the near future. We are currently very focused on expanding our white-label partners. We have a very innovative solution that allows partners to using our dating or cam technology and their own billing and affiliate network.
What's the biggest lesson you have learned during your time in the online adult industry?
Not to go for the quick buck, but to be true to your product, service and the affiliates and partners who help you succeed. We strongly avoid controversial traffic sources such as spam, spyware, torrent and illegal tube sites. Although those can be profitable, they are not rewarding to our brand or company.
What's the best piece of advice you ever got in life? What's the worst?
Use a rubber I would say is the best piece of advice I ever received, ha ha. If you don't like that one, I would say to never give up and always work hard to achieve. The worst advice I ever got would be to not take risks. You have to take risks to better yourself as an individual and businessman.
Who is your hero? Why?
I would say that my family (during my childhood) has had the most positive impact on my life. Having a strong foundation to grow from has really proven to be supportive for myself. I don't really have a hero to pick.
If you were ever on the cover of Forbes magazine, what would the headline read?
Sorry, I can't think of one.
