10th Annual Kinky Film Fest to Honor 'Opening of Misty Beethoven'

NEW YORK, NY—CineKink has announced that the Closing Night Tribute film of their tenth anniversary festival will be a restored version of Radley Metzger's The Opening of Misty Beethoven, widely considered the greatest adult film of all time and the apex of porno chic. The screening is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 9:30 PM at the Anthology Film Archives, 32 Second Ave., NYC, with the director expected to be in attendance.

In this erotic retelling of George Bernard Shaw's classic play Pygmalion, the action is transplanted to 1970s New York, Rome and Paris, following noted sexologist Dr. Seymour Love (Jamie Gillis) as he sets himself the challenge of transforming a "lowly" streetwalker, Misty Beethoven (Constance Money), into the world's greatest lover. With the help of his beautiful friend Geraldine (Jacqueline Beudant), Love devises an erotic training program with the goal of seeing Misty crowned "Goldenrod Girl" at famed publisher Lawrence Layman's next wild party. Along the way, Misty refines her technique by seducing an impotent artist, bringing three uniformed butlers to climax simultaneously, and by dallying with a rainbow-ceramic sex toy.

The Opening of Misty Beethoven was originally credited to Henry Paris, a pseudonym for Metzger, whose works include such adult cinema classics as Score, Barbara Broadcast and The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann. The festival screening at CineKink NYC is made possible by DistribPix, who supervised the meticulous restoration of the movie.

"I'm thrilled to share The Opening of Misty Beethoven with our audience," said Lisa Vandever, co-founder and director of CineKink. "Whenever anyone asks me to define 'quality' erotic cinema, Radley Metzger is always my first reference. The way his films combine explicit sexuality with an entertaining story, engaging performances and beautiful photography is nothing short of astonishing."

Billing itself as "the kinky film festival," CineKink NYC returns for its tenth anniversary appearance on Tuesday, February 26 and, running until March 3, features a specially-curated program of films and videos that celebrate and explore a wide diversity of sexuality. In addition to screenings, plans for the festival also include a short film competition, presentations, audience choice awards, a fund-raising kick-off gala and a concluding afterglow party.
