CHATSWORTH, Calif. – Ten days after its release the big-budget blockbuster Eden has already set sales records for Adam & Eve.
“Eden has taken off,” said Peter Reynolds, v.p. of sales and marketing. “It’s fantastic. We were getting reorders before the movie even streeted. That lets you know that you’re off to a good start.
“And there were those doubting Thomases who ordered very conservatively—‘Oh, it’s so expensive!’—and were on the phone the next day [after the September 25 street date] trying to get more.
“We were sure it would be a hit but the response has exceeded all our expectations.”
Reynolds was particularly encouraged by “strong comments from VoD companies about all the people plunking down $30 to view it.” He had mandated that only complete downloads be sold, not scenes—a policy that “so far is absolutely working.”
Most unusually, the Adam & Eve mail order operation, the largest in adult, had to add more operators at its calling centers to handle the initial rush of customers.
Eden, he said, was “well worth the expense and the effort, not to mention blood, sweat and tears. It has given us product and studio recognition around the world.”
Reynolds also has high hopes for Sunshine Highway, their first release with new contract girl Bree Olson, streeting October 30. “She’s the rare performer who’s really into what she’s doing,” he said.
And streeting just in time for Halloween will be My Girlfriend’s a Vampire, starring contract exclusive Ava Rose.
In November Adam & Eve releases Voluptuous Life, a XXX movie from mainstream photographer Carlos Batts, starring his muse, full-figured April Flores. They will also be shipping an R-rated version, through WEA distribution, to major retail chains and independent music stores.
A November 2 release party for Voluptuous Life, Reynolds promised, will combine the cream of the porn world with that of the art-photography world. Details will be announced at a later date.
