Wicked Introduces New DVD Cases As Response To Piracy

Wicked Pictures’ DVD product will be packaged in gray logo-embossed DVD cases, rather than the traditional black cases that most companies use as a response to the piracy of their product and as a response to their fight against foreign and domestic piracy of their titles.

Wicked, working with Adult Industry Copyright Organization — a non-profit Australian alliance designed to prevent and discourage breaches of copyright in adult productions (AICO) — recently was victorious in this fight abroad. In the case of the recently decided Wicked Pictures Vs. Kaosshop, the three defendants involved accepted liability at hearings in the Federal Magistrates Court, Sydney, and consented to a declaration that they had breached copyright of several of Wicked Pictures’ older Jenna Jameson-starring titles including AVN’s Top Selling And Top Renting Release of 2001, Dream Quest.

“It is not an inexpensive process for us to go after the people who are pirating our product, especially with the cost of pursuing the cases but with AICO we were able to win this,” Wicked Vice-President of Foreign Sales, Steven Vlottes, told AVN.com. “We will be pursuing this pirating aggressively, both here in our backyard and throughout the world. With the new packaging, a consumer will be able to recognize our product right away.”

Private Media Group, Vivid, Evil Angel, Red Light District, Video Team, Pure Play Media, Club Jenna and Zero Tolerance are also all members of AICO and they all actively pursue pirating in Australia through the organization.

The gray Wicked cases will begin appearing on store shelves in the coming months.
