UK Travelodge to Remove Adult PPV from Hotel Rooms
"Free, family-friendly" channels only

UK hotel chain Travelodge plans to remove all adult pay-per-view programming from 20,000 hotel rooms in an effort to attract more families with children.
A senior management source at Travelodge disclosed the plan to the London Telegraph
this weekend. According to reports, the hotel chain has invested 10 million pounds in new digital, flat-screen TV systems that will offer only "free, family-friendly" channels.
UK hotel guests spend hundreds of millions of pounds annually on adult pay-per-view content. Hotel operators receive only 10 percent of this income, with the rest going to providers.
The Telegraph report states: "[Travelodge] is expected to claim that the loss of income from removing the porn channel will be compensated for by the attraction of more customers in the long term."
"We have an ever-increasing number of families staying with us and it's appropriate that we remove adult TV," said Travelodge Chief Operating Officer Guy Parsons . "Our other customers tell us that they would prefer to use a hotel without adult content available so we have responded to meet their needs. We talk to our customers about all of these issues and often take the lead in delivering what they ask for."
