After more than a year of planning, Evil Angel owner John Stagliano is set to debut a non-explicit, but erotically charged live dance review version of his AVN Award-winning fetish-meets-hardcore film The Fashionistas.
Stagliano told AVN exclusively today that the show, called simply The Fashionistas, is set to open Sept. 2 at Krave, a 450-seat nightclub in the Desert Passage Shopping Center on the Vegas Strip at the corner of Harmon Ave. and Las Vegas Blvd.
“Am I thrilled?” Stagliano posited. “It’s the most exciting thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
Directed by Stagliano with the help of two choreographers, the dance review runs close to 90 minutes. It will have an indefinite run and will be staged once a night Monday through Saturday. It has no singing, little dialog, and features the recorded music of the Lords of Acid.
“The show is my movie, The Fashionistas, turned into a dance review stage show with considerable changes,” Stagliano said. “There’s no sex in the show. In fact, the show’s not even topless. But it is erotic in the sense that the costumes are sexy and the content of the dance numbers is kind of erotic and sexual. There’s lots of fetish costumes. Like Fashionistas [the film], but done on a much more elaborate level.”
The show follows the same basic story of the film, set in the L.A. fetish fashion industry, and includes the roles of the three main characters played in the film by Rocco Siffredi (world class fetish fashion designer Antonio), Taylor St. Claire (Helena, a highly manipulative up-and coming fetish fashion designer), and Belladonna (Jesse, Helena’s highly talented assistant, who experiences an SMBD sexual awakening). Other performers will play the Siffredi, St. Claire and Belladonna roles in the stage version.
“I’m not really hyping the opening on Sept. 2 because we have to tweak the show” after seeing how it plays to an audience, Stagliano said. At a later date that has not been set, he said, the show will have a more gala premiere.
The film The Fashionistas is one of the most acclaimed adult titles of all time. It dominated the 2003 AVN Awards show in Las Vegas, taking home 10 awards, including the coveted Best Film and Best Director – Film statuettes.
