For those who never quite understood the mystique of rock icons like Bob Dylan, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix or even John Sebastian, there's always KISS bassist Gene Simmons. Selling flash over substance, Simmons is currently keeping himself in a spotlight of sorts on A&E's Simmons-centric reality show, "Gene Simmons Family Jewels."
On the episode that will air Sunday May 6, Simmons hits the road to Las Vegas and visits the Adult Entertainment Expo where he spends an awful lot of time at the SexZ Pictures booth.
Bo Kenney, SexZ Pictures' CEO and resident mastermind, said of the experience, "We had a great time having Gene and the crew in the SexZ Pictures booth where they were able to see all of the beautiful porn actresses, including Hillary Scott who went on to win the AVN Female Performer of the Year Award later that night."
Kenney went on to say that he's looking forward to the broadcast. "We're very happy to have their cameras in our booth because our audience is rapidly expanding and we're getting a lot of exposure all across the US and around the world," he said. "Plus, it was a lot of fun so I can't wait to see how it comes out."
Somehow, it's hard to picture the Bob Dylan of the '60s documentaries Don't Look Back and Eat the Document—or the current Dylan for that matter—stooping to do a cable TV reality show, but Simmons is no Dylan. Neither is he KISS drummer Peter Criss...or even Punky Meadows of Angel.
"Gene Simmons Family Jewels" airs on A&E Sunday, May 6th at 9 pm Eastern and repeats Monday, May 7th at 1 am Eastern. Check your local listings.
