'Roller Dollz' to Feature Original Music from The Mother Truckers

Funzalo Records recording artists to license songs for Adam & Eve/Zero Tolerance co-production

'Roller Dollz' to Feature Original Music from The Mother Truckers

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Adam & Eve and Zero Tolerance will collaborate with the Austin, Texas-based band The Mother Truckers on a unique marketing endeavor to promote their anticipated co-production, Roller Dollz.

The Mother Truckers will lend original music to the roller-derby-themed feature which is set for release on Sept. 9. In addition, the band will shoot two music videos in Austin in late May starring Adam & Eve contract stars Bree Olson and Kayden Kross, Zero Tolerance exclusive Courtney Cummz and ZT regular Alektra Blue. Meanwhile, 16 professional roller derby skaters from several local teams will participate in the videos as well.

"We are thrilled to have The Mother Truckers coming on board with us for this very special production," said Peter Reynolds, vice president of sales and marketing for Adam & Eve Pictures. "The band is legendary... they've played with Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson... I saw them live at South by Southwest and knew then that their amazing blend of country and rock fit our roller derby theme perfectly."

The Mother Truckers, which are managed by the Tucson, Ariz-based, Funzalo Records label, will release its new album titled "Let's All Go to Bed" on June 3. One of the songs that will be licensed for Roller Dollz is the title track, while the second is called "Dynamite." The third is an instrumental.

"This is a great tool for them," said Mike Lembo, owner of Funzalo Records. "'With all the activity we have around this record, we have six months to help them promote their film and use their film and to promote our music, and that doesn't even bring in all the roller derby teams around the world. So the cross marketing ideas around this thing are kind of limitless."

Lembo said The Mother Truckers songs would be used specifically during the roller derby sequences, not the sex scenes. He describes the band's sound as "alternative country meets AC/DC."

"They tour all over the country. They've been touring for about four years," Lembo said.

The Austin Chronicle voted the band "Best Roots Rock Group" of 2006.

"They are spectacular," said Adam & Eve's Olson. "I've asked if I can go on hiatus from shooting my movies to travel with them!"

Kross added, "I've been a fan for years, so working with them in this capacity is a dream come true."

Aside from featuring the adult stars in the music videos for "Let's All Go to Bed" and "Dynamite," the companies' plans also include promotional flyers that will tout the movie and the band's concert dates. The promo materials will be distributed in mainstream and adult retail outlets.

"I have a thing about music, if you can't sing to it, dance to it or fuck to it, it isn't any good," said Lembo, a 35-year veteran of the record industry. "We have really just hit the tip of the iceberg with what we're going to do with this."

The Roller Dollz marketing campaign will continue in July in Las Vegas. Reynolds for the second straight year is working with the Palms Resort & Casino on two nights of events. All the stars from the movie will attend a Roller Dollz-themed bash on Friday night, July 25, before the cast joins the annual Jimmy's Naughty Nightie Night pajama party on Saturday, July 26 at the Palms pool.

James Avalon and Mike Quasar co-directed Roller Dollz in March at various Los Angeles locations. The cast also includes Adam & Eve exclusive Ava Rose, Sunny Lane,  Penny Flame, Teagan Presley, Camryn Kiss, Mia Presley, Erik Everhard, James Deen, Mick Blue, Mr. Pete and Mikey Butders.
