VENICE, Calif.—Today there will be screenings of two titles that are of note to members of the adult community. One of those, Risky Business: A Look Inside America's Adult Film Industry, has two other local screenings this week.
At 4 p.m., a 13-minute short titled Old Stud and starring adult movie vet Randy Spears will be screened (read more here). Following that is Risky Business: A Look Inside America's Adult Film Industry, a documentary directed by former performer and director Dave Pounder. The program airs today, Oct. 12, at 4 p.m. as part of the Other Venice Film Festival, taking place at Beyond Baroque (681 Venice Boulevard in Venice).
Risky Business was completed late last year and has been on the festival circuit since January.
According to the movie’s website, RiskyBusinessTheMovie.com, the documentary examines the social, psychological, and economic impacts of performing in adult films. Industry performers are asked how they decided to become adult entertainers, how they got into the business, and how they deal with career options, finances, and relationships once they exit the business. The documentary also examines current industry issues, including workplace health and safety, such as mandatory STD testing and condom use, and job discrimination once performers decide to leave the industry and pursue conventional employment.
The current list of 2013 screenings can be found here. Or follow Dave Pounder on Twitter, where he posts information about new screenings.
Two additional screenings of Risky Business take place this week:
