HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Fans of adult have no problem recognizing the name of porn-friendly comedian Dave Attell. After all, he hosted the 2010 and 2012 AVN Awards Shows, not to mention two seasons of Showtime's Dave's Old Porn, which featured Attell and guest stars, both porn and mainstream, watching and critiquing XXX movies from the '70s and '80s. Adult stars appearing on the show included Ron Jeremy, Nina Hartley, Ginger Lynn, Georgina Spelvin, Seka, Vanessa Del Rio, Sharon Kane, Christy Canyon, Tom Byron, Paul Thomas, R. Bolla, Herschel Savage, Sean Michaels and several others.
But Attell may be best known for his non-porn-related work, which includes a stint as a writer for Saturday Night Live, as a "correspondent" on The Daily Show, as the host of Insomniac with Dave Attell, a late-night interview series which ran for four years on Comedy Central, or possibly even his short-lived Comedy Central series, The Gong Show with Dave Attell. He's also appeared as a stand-up comedian in specials on HBO and VH1.
And now, obviously pleased with his prior work for them, Comedy Central has offered Attell another opportunity to host a stand-up series, as yet untitled, which BroadcastingCable.com's Tim Baysinger described as "uncensored" and "unfiltered."
"The series will feature sets from up-and-coming comedians and well-known ones, as well as interstitial moments throughout the episodes," Baysinger reported. "The series is expected to premiere in 2014."
