LOS ANGELES—Actor Justin Long appeared on NBC's Today on Tuesday to talk about Case, a new movie he directed and stars in, but of course the conversation quickly veered to porn—because that's just the kind of world we live in now. The instigating element was a mustache Long grew for an acting role.
"I'd like to say, 'You're welcome, America,'" said the 35-year-old actor as he stroked his facial hair. "It's horrifying. I'm sorry. Most everyone in my life is very much against it, but it's for a job.
"I'm not playing a '70s porn star," he added.
Co-anchor Willie Geist then commented," I'm a huge fan of the other Justin Long, but I think you do some good work too."
At which point, Long turned to the camera and said, "Willie's alluding to, in case you don't know, if you're living under a rock, that there's a porn star named Justin Long. ... His friends call me the 'poor man's' him."
That was kind of it for the porn talk, except that Long also noted that the 'stache does not appear in Case, which is about a guy (Long) who "romances Evan Rachel Wood's barista character by constructing a persona online that he thinks will impress her — and then has a hard time living up to it."
Porn star Justin Long, for those who don't know, is a 43-year-old African-American performer with well over 300 credits to his name, per iafd.com.
