Jules Jordan Video has signed director Mike John to an exclusive distribution deal.
Jordan will release approximately 12 movies a year for Mike John Productions beginning with the first volume of a new interracial series called Racial Tension in April. Jordan told AVN.com Thursday that John would have full ownership of his product, and his company would earn a percentage for distributing it.
“Me and Mike John have been friends for a real long time since his days at Anabolic,” Jordan said. “I’ve always been a huge fan of his movies, especially the POVs that he shoots. He’s an innovator in that style.
"It’s great to distribute his titles; they’re undisputed across the board. Everybody knows his product. The movies speak for themselves on the hard-edged side, and I’d like to give Mike a chance to have even wider distribution and earn what’s due to him after all these years of being in the game.”
John left Red Light District on Jan. 4 after nearly three years, and immediately speculation swirled about what he would do next. He directed 27 titles while at Red Light, where he further established himself as a premier gonzo shooter. John began building his reputation at Anabolic, debuting there in 1998 with Panochitas after getting his start in adult as a videographer for Sean Michaels in '96.
John said much of the reason he chose to join Jordan was his breadth of experience that ranges from working in a retail store to doing sales and being talent.
“I’m excited about it. It pretty much means I’m going to continue doing this, because I was at a point where I was fed up,” John told AVN.com Thursday. “I don’t think there’s that many opportunities when you reach a certain level in this business, as far as legitimate ownership deals.
“Because Jules does what I’ve done for the same amount of time, it’s exciting that a pornographer has actually started a company as opposed to a businessman. He’s a businessman too, but he’s also been behind and in front of the camera and he understands what it takes to do my job.”
John added, “Besides the quality of his movies, his success is no mistake. He’s worked his way up and I respect what he’s done. He’s earned everything he’s gotten. He really knows and understands this business.”
With Jordan, John will continue shooting some of his signature series such as No Cum Dodging Allowed, Teenage Spermaholics, POV Pervert and Semen Sippers. He also will do new volumes of Elastic Assholes, Boobaholics and Sperm Receptacles. John will be adding more hardcore footage to each of his titles as he plans to release everything on two-disc sets.
Jordan, the decorated gonzo director who left Evil Angel in January to form his own distribution company, said that securing John marks the beginning of what he anticipates will be an all-star stable.
“He’s the first of what I’ll start to call the Jules Jordan arsenal of directors,” Jordan revealed. “This deal kind of fell into my lap and of course I took it when I left Evil Angel. I think it’s kind of a match made in heaven for consumers. Mike will of course have the advantage of an ‘unlimited budget’ to do what he feels is necessary to give consumers the maximum amount of content for their money.”
Jordan noted that John perhaps has not received some credit that is due for helping to pioneer POV, which has become a fixture in adult.
“Today everybody has a POV series, but Mike is a true innovator of the genre,” he said. “He gives the viewers a true perspective with the performer holding the camera shooting the girls. And when it comes to his skills as a videographer, I’ve always thought he was in the right places at the right times with the right angles to capture everything on point. I’m a true fan of his camerawork and his directing ability.”
John said that Racial Tension would feature scenes with Mysti May, Naomi, Casey Star, Gianna and Marie Luv among others, and will likely employ a loose storyline, akin to Teenage Spermaholics.
Jordan has recently moved into his new company headquarters at 14141 Covello St. Unit 5C, Van Nuys, 91405. Jules Jordan Video can be reached at 800.787.5053, or 818.787.0574 via fax; email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit julesjordanvideo.com.
