Director Kurt Lockwood announced today that his hardcore parody The Real Boogie Nights has received an e-mail go-ahead from the makers of the 1997 mainstream film Boogie Nights.
"It's all Ron Jeremy's doing, really," Lockwood told AVN.com. "He sends up the Burt Reynolds character in my version, and he was a chief consultant on Boogie Nights, and he even had a part that ended up on the cutting-room floor. So Ron stayed in touch with the filmmakers over the years, and because this movie was such a labor of love, we wanted to do everything right. It's a $50,000 movie, which is big-budget for adult, and we didn't want to get a lawsuit from anything, so Ronnie got in touch with [a Hollywood agency] and they got in touch with the filmmaker's management team."
According to Lockwood, the parties involved confirmed they would not object to the hardcore spoof, which streets on June 5 through Sex Z Pictures.
Lockwood, who stars in The Real Boogie Nights as the Dirk Diggler character, will join his cast tonight at 9 on KSEX Radio's "Who Wears the Pants?"
KSEX host Jack Lawrence also acted in Lockwood's feature opposite Jeremy, Amber Lynn, Sunny Lane, Gwen Diamond, Tiffany Price, Hailey Young and Marie Luv.
"We're hoping to get as many cast members together as possible for the show," said Lawrence. "This has to be the most fun movie I have been in and most rewarding. Everyone from the extras to the lead characters stepped up their game and put in great performances...we wanted to honor the movie that had so many incredible performances in, and that gave the mainstream audience a chance to see into our strange world."
"To my knowledge, this is an unprecedented event in adult movies," added Lockwood. "Never before has a mainstream director given his blessing for the release of an adult parody of a major motion picture."
