GAYVN, the Gay and Bi section of AVN, will add pages and move to the center of the magazine starting with the June issue, AVN Publisher Tim Connelly announced today.
"AVN President Paul Fishbein and I have been working toward this ever since I came to AVN two years ago," Connelly said. "By qualifying the subscription list to target only gay retailers and stores that specifically request GAYVN, we are able now to focus tightly on the gay market, which will greatly benefit our subscribers and advertisers."
Connelly said that AVN with the bound-in GAYVN section would now go to 8- to 10,000 retailers and gay-adult-industry professionals. "This allows us to lower advertising rates proportionally in GAYVN, which will be very attractive to our gay-company advertisers."
"The new GAYVN will have its own covers, so it will stand out even more," said GAYVN Editor Doug Lawrence. "With added pages we can increase the coverage our readers depend on to keep them in-the-know — every month will now be like our popular twice-yearly Gay Supplements." Lawrence also explained that this expansion is part of a long range plan to increase AVN's gay presence. "The revamp of GAYVN.com is next," he said.
Connelly also announced the recent hiring of Jeff Rosenberg as the advertising representative who will be responsible for all GAYVN ad sales. Rosenberg, recently of high-profile gay publisher Specialty Publications, is well-known in the gay-XXX industry. He has further credentials in cable-industry and mainstream motion picture marketing.
"I'm delighted that Jeff has come on board," GayVN Managing Editor Doug Lawrence said. "He has wide experience in our industry and his presence here is a definite plus."
