LOS ANGELES - Dynasty Group Distribution has picked up the rights to the Standard Digital library, which includes the original Taboo series and other acclaimed features directed by XXX maestro Kirdy Stevens.
"The Taboo series stands as one of adult's best-known franchises," said Jon Islas, president of Dynasty Group Distribution. "The fans of the movies — and there is a hardcore, dedicated base for these movies — can rattle off whole lines of dialogue from memory. Kay Parker, Nina Hartley, Colleen Brennan, Karen Summer, Dorothy LeMay, Honey Wilder, Juliet Anderson, Ginger Lynn, Porsche Lynn, Amber Lynn, Joey Silvera and Ron Jeremy have appeared in at least one volume of Taboo."
Standard Digital produced the first six installments of the Taboo series, which focused on the hot-button topic of incest; the franchise later continued through Metro without the emphasis on illicit family relations.
Stevens directed the first five Taboo movies, and collaborated with Robert McCallum (a.k.a. the late Gary Graver) on Taboo VI. The other movies in the Standard Digital collection are Stevens' The Animal in Me, Playing with Fire and Daisy Chain.
Islas previously handled the Standard Digital library through Addictive Entertainment. He launched Dynasty Group earlier this month as a new home for classic porn of the '70s and '80s.
"I've developed a strong relationship with my buyers during my time as general manager at Addictive," Islas said. "By focusing on classics, Dynasty Group Distribution will continue to give our customers unparalleled support and include them in upcoming marketing opportunities."
