Adult DVD Empire Announces Empire Awards Winners

Adult DVD Empire, three-time winner of the AVN Award for Best Retail Website, has announced the winners of the 2005 Empire Awards.

Digital Playground’s Pirates took home three of the top honors, winning Best Overall DVD, Editor’s Choice, and Viewer’s Choice awards in this sixth annual event that recognizes the best and brightest on adult DVD.

Pirates received an astonishing 76 percent of the votes in the Viewer’s Choice category, and also took Best DVD Menu Design, Best DVD Audio Quality, and Best DVD Video Quality.

Vivid’s The New Devil in Miss Jones also scored big at the Empire Awards, taking home the Best Feature DVD and Best DVD Commentary Awards. Where The Boys Aren’t from Vivid took the honor of Best Classic DVD, and Club Jenna’s Jenna Loves Pain was awarded the title of Best Fetish DVD.

Other notable winners from the 2005 Empire Awards include Neo Pornographia from Ninn Worx, which too the award for Best All-Sex DVD, Platinum X Pictures’ Baker’s Dozen 6 for Best Gonzo DVD. Winning the first-ever Empire Award for Best Compilation DVD was Evil Angel’s Aurora Snow vs. Gauge. The Best Selling DVD of 2005, measured during the period between Dec. 1, 2004, and Dec. 1, 2005, was Digital Playground’s Island Fever 3. Devil’s Film won the Empire Award for Best Compilation DVD Studio, and Digital Playground took the Best Overall DVD Studio Award.

“Although Pirates and Devil in Miss Jones were the two big winners this year, we also had a few studios getting Empire Awards that had never won before,” says Shannon Nutt, editorial director for Adult DVD Empire. “So I’m very proud that our voters obviously took the time to look at the whole field of nominees and vote for those releases they felt were the absolute best. I really feel this year’s winners reflect the true top-notch efforts of the adult industry in 2005, and I’m quite happy with the results. All of this year’s winners are deserving.”
