Abraham to ET: Thought Deen Would 'Protect Me and My Privacy'

HOLLYWOOD—Since Farrah Abraham's new sex tape, Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom, is doing such gangbusters business right out the door—much to everybody's surprise, natch—that the internet traffic it's attracted managed to crash Vivid.com's servers, it only follows that she should do a media tour promoting it, and her first stop was at celebrity news show Entertainment Tonight.

ET's Brooke Anderson prodded Abraham in a segment Wednesday night for answers to a number of questions surrounding the tape, including the rather glaring one on the minds of many as to why she would secure the services of porn megastar James Deen to be her partner in the tape if her intent was to keep it private. To which Abraham replied: "I was under the belief this would help better protect me and my privacy. So I was like, if this guy is so professional and everything is going to be fine, then I was like, I'm happier with this choice."

Well that clears it all up.

Abraham went on to suggest—we think—that her decision to release the tape to the masses was a means of booting Deen out of the spotlight and drawing it back upon herself.

"He kind of made it, like, his own thing," Abraham said of Deen, "and that's why I was like, 'You know what? Let me be one step ahead, and let me gain control of my own video again.'"

One might wonder at what point Abraham was ever not in control of her video, since according to her, she hired Deen to appear in it, shopped it around to various adult companies herself, and sold it to Vivid for a sum of, as she told ET, "more than people hear." (The figure reported by various outlets has ranged from "the high six figures" to $1.5 million. And, for the record, the extent of Deen's efforts to make the tape "his own thing" have been to tell interviewers, when asked if he shot it, that he did.)

But no matter—Backdoor Teen Mom is a wild success, so Vivid reports. Co-chariman Steven Hirsch appeared in the piece as well, saying, "Our traffic was four times more than the day we released the Kim Kardashian tape, which was a huge surprise for us, but obviously we're happy about it."
