AVN Awards Pre-Nom Site To Stay Open Until Oct. 3

26th annual AVN Awards Show Set for Jan. 10 at Mandalay Bay

AVN Awards Pre-Nom Site To Stay Open Until Oct. 3

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - AVN announced Monday that it will leave the pre-nominations Website for the 2009 AVN Awards Show open until Friday, Oct. 3.

The site originally was scheduled to close at the end of business on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

"We understand that several producers are hustling to get all their information entered into the site before it closes as well as submit their DVDs," said Dan Miller, editor-in-chief of AVN magazine. "So we are leaving the site open for three more business days to give people some extra time to finish their submissions."

The site (avnawards.com/nominations) is designed to give producers the opportunity to nominate movies, scenes, performers and production professionals for 2009 AVN Awards consideration. Producers are required to enter their pre-nominations themselves.

The 26th annual AVN Awards Show is set for Jan. 10, 2009, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The complete list of 2009 nominees will be announced in late November.

"We encourage producers to use this site to participate in the nominations process by calling our attention to their strongest material," Miller said.

To gain access to the site, producers must obtain a username and password by submitting an email request to AVN screeners editor Angie Peek (angie.peek@avn.com). AVN will no longer accept producer pre-nom lists in hard copy or via e-mail or fax. The pre-nominations site will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3.

The deadline for a movie to be on the street that is eligible for a 2009 award is Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The eligibility period for 2009 awards consideration includes any movie released between Oct. 1, 2007 and Sept. 30, 2008. A title must be carried by at least 10 wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets to qualify.

Producers should be judicious in their pre-noms, submitting only those productions and scenes they strongly believe have a chance at being nominated rather than submitting all titles released during the eligibility period.

Production companies must supply AVN with all required information in their pre-noms, including the names of all the performers in the sex scenes and the names of all the behind-the-camera talent in the technical categories such as editing, videography, music and others.

Producers by 5 p.m., Oct. 3 must provide AVN with two DVD copies of each title or scene they would like to be considered for nominations, as well as sample materials used in marketing campaigns if seeking consideration in those categories. The titles should be mailed or hand-delivered to:
