LAS VEGAS - ED Publications' 16th annual Gentlemen's Club Expo is set to be held at the Mandalay Bay hotel on August 24 - 27. Billed as "The Year of the GM," the Expo will include seminars and workshops designed to aid the adult club GM with customer service, promotions, and club management.
"General Managers are the ones who are there when the owner can't be," explained Dave Manack, associate publisher/editor-in-chief of ED Publications, home to 'Exotic Dancer' magazine. "They run every aspect of an adult nightclub. They handle the hiring and firings. They control the club's inventory. They're responsible for making sure that club promotions are a success. They may be required to work one-on-one with local authorities. They handle any problem-no matter how big or small-that arises in a club."
Workshops will include "GM on the Hot Seat," "How to Turn All of Your Customers into VIPs," and "GM, Club Owner, DJ: Who's the Real Big Dog?" Manack stressed that each workshop "will provide GMs and club owners with information and insight that is not available anywhere else in any form."
The Expo coincides with Storerotica, a two-day tradeshow featuring over 400 exhibitors. "GMs are often the ones advising owners on which companies would best suit their club's needs," noted Manack. "This is a perfect opportunity for GMs to see all of the newest products and services available to their venue, all in the same place."
Evening festivities will include an opening night party at the Mandalay Bay's Rum Jungle nightclub and a Leather & Lace Contest party held at the lavish Penthouse Club.
ED Publications will also present the 11th annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards, held Tuesday night at The Joint venue, located inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The show will feature a celebrity host, special guest presenters, and performances by top feature entertainers. The show will also introduce the award for General Manager of the Year.
The 2007 Expo drew over 3,000 attendees, including over 1,700 adult nightclub owners and general managers from individual clubs and club chains. ED Publications estimates that at least 70% of the 2,500 adult nightclubs listed in their annual directory will attend the 2008 Expo.
Expo registration for adult club GMs is set at half price ($145).
