"While Stockroom.com has been growing and diversifying steadily since its inception [in 1988] ... this industry leader has never had a shop to call its own," Marketing Manager Allain Rochel said. "The opening of the store promises a new era of hands-on accessibility and community involvement for this adult-biz superstar."
In addition to Stockroom products, the store will feature items from the revamped Syren line, Daedalus Publishing and Kinklab. Online customers will be able to pick up their orders at the store instead of having them shipped.
The store will be flanked by a yoga studio and an upscale interior-design store, and will be accessible by three major public-transit lines in a part of town that is undergoing a "much-needed renaissance with increased foot traffic," Rochel said.
Rochel said opening the store will be "inspiring to all of us and will also make us more approachable within the community." Having a retail location "mere steps away" from Stockroom's offices, he said, "has unlimited potential for all aspects of our business."
Stockroom will continue its tradition of outreach work and education by launching its Stockroom University Carnal Knowledge series, a variation on Syren University from the Syren store that closed on Aug. 31 - when the company launched its Syren Couture line to serve the film industry. Stockroom University will offer intimate workshops with erotic practitioners, beginning with Midori's "Kink Outside the Box" workshop in December.
"It's absolutely our intention to provide a provocative, aesthetically appealing and community-building venue," Rochel said. "While we love serving such a vast customer base via the Web, we're all looking forward to taking our work to the street, as it were, and being much more active on the local level."
A gala celebrating the store's opening is scheduled for Oct. 19. Details will be posted in the coming weeks at Stockroom.com
