After a 15-year hiatus from recording and touring, XYZ has reformed and will a greatest hits set, including "Inside Out, Face Down in the Gutter" and "When I Find Love."
"XYZ is releasing a greatest hits album this week, which includes a new track that I played on, plus there is a bit of a revival for this style of music," Shapiro told AVN Online. "The Rocklahoma show was very successful last year and we got invited to play at this year's show. For me, it's about getting together again to play some big stages and party with the XYZ fans."
XYZ will be performing with other '80s rock giants Triumph, Extreme, Night Ranger, Living Colour, Kingdom Come, Tesla, UFO, LA Guns, Y&T, Ratt, Faster Pussycat and Bang Tango.
"It will be very cool to play with these legends," Shapiro added. "I was a fan of some of these bands in my late teens, so it's definitely a trip. Living Colour will be playing the same day we are, so it will rock."
According to Shapiro, the band rehearsed all week in Los Angeles at the same facility Dokken's Guitarist, George Lynch, had been rehearsing.
"The Lynch Mob is playing the day after we are and he's got Fred Koury, the drummer from Cinderella, in the band for that show. We spent half our rehearsal time hanging with George and Fred and BSing about the good old days of rock 'n' roll and all the girls in the high heels and mini skirts."
Shapiro said he and the band are going to the show on the July 10 just to hang out.
"Dokken's playing that night," he said. "I was a fan back in the day and Don actually produced XYZ's first album, so it will be cool to see him again."
Adult industry webmasters attending the show on those dates are encouraged to contact the SmashBucks crew for information on back-stage parties.
"I'm not sure what to expect," Shapiro admitted. "The backstage environment will be different from the usual show because they are outdoor festival events. It's not held in a room inside an arena where we use to get really crazy. There should be a lot of people since there will be 12 bands backstage, as opposed to the usual one or two."
