The agreement will allow Private to distribute to nearly 100 percent of the French IPTV market and will be instrumental in furthering Private's media growth.

"Compared to traditional pay-TV, it generates substantially higher sales per subscriber at a considerably better margin. IPTV will most definitely be a significant source of both sales and profits for us going forward," Peter Cohen, COO at Private Media Group stated.

Multimedia Research Group forecasts global IPTV subscribers to grow from 13.5 million in 2007 to 92.8 million in 2012. European markets have proven the most receptive to IPTV, with subscribers expected to grow from roughly 6.4 million in 2007 to 36.4 million in 2012.

Presently, Private represents 75 percent of the European IPTV market coverage with content accessible in 18 European countries, through 35 IPTV providers and a subscriber base of 7.3 million. The deal with VirginMega France is just another facet of the company's ongoing distribution strategy in Europe.
