New Technologies Bow at ANME Founders Show

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.—Several adult novelty manufacturers displayed new technologies and hundreds of new catalog items during the ANME Founders Show, which took place July 10-12 at the Marriott in Woodland Hills.

Leading the way in the technology field was California Exotic Novelties, which debuted its “tap-go” control system for a new line of vibrators.

“We spent more than a year working on the prototypes before we introduced this technology,” said Al Bloom, director of marketing for Cal Exotics. “This is not the type of thing you want to rush, because if you introduce a new technology too early, or with a lot of bugs, it will leave a bad taste in people’s mouths.”

The iTap vibes have no buttons or switches; instead, the user simply inserts the batteries and taps the bottom of the item to turn it on. More taps will take the vibes through five levels and patterns of vibration, and a final tap turns them off.

The line was a big hit during the show, but it was not the only new item introduced by Cal Exotics. The Inked vibrator line features tattoo-style art inspired by the work of Ed Hardy. And the new Mail Order Bride love doll was also a resounding success.

In addition to these technological innovations, the company also released its new product DVD, which boasts hot links to website images of the more than 2,800 catalog items Cal Exotics carries, as well as full specs on every product.

Pipedream Products also introduced a number of new products, more than 20 in all, including several new items in its popular Fetish Fantasy Series. A Bit Gag, 3 Piece Muzzle Set, Inflatable Bondage Bed and Fetish Gift Kit were among the more outstanding items.

Pipedream also introduced a new line of glow-in-the-dark vibrators, the Jack in the Crack anal toy, and the Roto-Bator, billed as the world’s first “rotating, vibrating, cordless masturbator.”

Nasstoys debuted its upcoming Wisper Collection vibrator line, as well as the Purple Carnal Collection.

Another big hit was the new line of Sex in the Shower items from Sportsheets. A Suction Foot Rest, Dual Shower Head, Vibrating Sponge and Dual Locking Suction Handle can all be used to enhance tub and shower play for couples, and Waterproof Sexual Position Cards are designed to help guide customers on how to use the items and be creative.

Topco Sales released several new items in the Rascal line of items, including the Savage Balls and Strapping Balls and a new Rascal Travel Kit, complete with a razor, shave cream, lubricant, a douche system and condoms.

Also new was the Justine Joli Cyberskin Foot Job Stroker, modeled after the actress’ own feet and sure to be a hit with her fetish fans, and Hot Spots The Body Paint Game.

Not to be outdone, Doc Johnson also released its new Platinum line, which has products contructed with 100 percent platinum silicone made in the U.S. The company also unveiled, to great response, the new Throbbing Hearts Squirmy, with a shaft that expands and contrasts, the first technology of its kind. Other highlights included the new vibrating glass line, Reflections, plus brand new unique shapes such as the Ohhhh G! and Aura.
