Spate of New John Doe Lawsuits Greet the New Year

CYBERSPACE—Undaunted by the recent setback in West Virginia, where a federal judge ordered the severing of thousands of anonymous alleged infringers in John Doe copyright infringement lawsuits brought by attorney Kenneth Ford on behalf of adult studios, a spate of similar lawsuits were filed in late December in California and Texas. The number of new John Doe defendants is in the 13,000 range.
