Hard2Find Videos Owner Gets 33 Months for Obscenity

WASHINGTON -  Hard2Find Videos owner Loren Jay Adams was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Martinsburg, W. Va., to 33 months in prison for shipping obscene DVDs through the U.S. mail.

U.S. District Chief Judge John Preston Bailey also ordered Adams to serve three years supervised release and to forfeit his Web site domain name and all copies of DVDs involved in the case.

Adams, 45, was convicted Sept. 30 by a federal jury of six counts of transporting obscene matters through the U.S. mail and transportation of obscene matters for sale or distribution by means of interstate commerce.

Adams' website offered amateur porn videos featuring extreme sex acts. The charges stem from a February 2008 mail-order sting in which Adams mailed DVDs containing images of fisting and bestiality from his home state of Indiana to Martinsburg.

At trial, the jury heard that Adams previously had been convicted in 2003 in Marion County, Ind., for violating Indiana statutes prohibiting exhibition of obscene matter and distribution of obscene matter. The conviction was affirmed by the Indiana Supreme Court.

The case was prosecuted by Criminal Division Trial Attorney Pamela Satterfield and the Criminal Division's Obscenity Prosecution Task Force in Washington, D.C., along with Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of West Virginia.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI. Assistance was provided by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
