New Restrictions Could Banish Prepetrators From Movie Industry

China Imposes Full-Scale Censorship
BEIJING — China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television just passed a new ordinance not only banning the depiction of hardcore sex and rape in movies, but also restricting them from containing vulgar language and song lyrics, as well as sound effects with sexual connotations, according to United Press International.

In addition to the ban on such material itself, the ordinance forbids any movie producer, director or actor who participates in making an erotic movie from competing for or participating in any motion picture awards.

"The heaviest punishment for such violation would lead to a five-year ban of perpetrators from the movie industry," the ordinance states.

The Administration warned all studios and local regulators to "bear their own responsibility in correcting the wrong deeds of producing erotic movies. Violating studios might face the harshest punishment of revoking permits for shooting films."
