CHARLESTON, S.C. — A bill proposing restrictions on adult businesses was approved Thursday by a South Carolina House Judiciary subcommittee, according to the
Charleston City Paper.
Promoted by the Palmetto Family Council (PFC), the bill would institute a six-foot distance requirement between dancers and patrons in strip clubs, and prohibit all adult businesses from operating between midnight and 6 a.m.
PFC representative Oran Smith said of the proposed stripping regulation, "There are some things that go on there that are clearly entertainment — even though it might be a little edgy. When it becomes a lap dance and it becomes a champagne room, that's bordering on something that should not be occurring."
Smith noted that he felt the bill is moderate in its approach to adult entertainment.
The bill is scheduled to go before the full House Judiciary Committee Tuesday.
